💨 Abstract

Two of the world's top weather agencies predict a high likelihood of record-breaking heat and extreme weather over the next five years. There's an 80% chance of breaking annual temperature records and a significant probability of exceeding the 1.5°C threshold set by the Paris climate accord. Higher global temperatures mean increased chances of severe heatwaves, hurricanes, droughts, and wildfires, leading to more lives lost.
