💨 Abstract
North Korea has detained three shipyard officials following the failed launch of a naval destroyer, which leader Kim Jong Un attributed to criminal negligence. The 5,000-ton-class destroyer was damaged on Wednesday in Chongjin, an incident that was highly embarrassing for Kim, who seeks to bolster naval forces against alleged U.S.-led threats. Officials blamed the incident on a transport cradle detaching prematurely.
