💨 Abstract
The British government plans to introduce medication to suppress the sex drive of some sex offenders to reduce reoffending and ease prison overcrowding. "Chemical castration" will be used in 20 prisons, alongside psychological interventions. The move is part of a broader reform recommended by a review chaired by David Gauke, aimed at reducing reoffending and overhauling the prison system. Reforms include earlier releases, more flexible punishments, and increased investment in probation services.
