💨 Abstract
The U.S. and Philippine militaries conducted joint drills in the Sulu Sea, near the South China Sea, to enhance maritime security amid rising tensions with China. The exercises focused on maritime domain awareness and tactical maneuvers. China claims most of the South China Sea, including areas within the Philippines' exclusive economic zone, and has built military bases on disputed reefs. The U.S. supports freedom of navigation and the Philippines' defense, despite China's objections and harassment of Philippine vessels.
