💨 Abstract
Bangladesh's interim leader Muhammad Yunus announced that national elections will be held in the first half of April 2026. This announcement follows three days after former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was removed by a student-led uprising. Hasina, currently exiled in India, has seen her Awami League party banned. The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) headed by Khaleda Zia had pushed for a December election.
