💨 Abstract
Marc Garneau, Canada's first astronaut and a former foreign minister, passed away at age 76 after a brief illness. Born in Quebec City, Garneau flew aboard the U.S. space shuttle in 1984 and later served in Justin Trudeau’s government as minister of foreign affairs and transport minister. He was also a Liberal MP for a Montreal-area riding from 2008 to 2023.
