💨 Abstract

In May 2025, U.K. inflation slightly decreased to 3.4% from 3.5% in April, remaining above the Bank of England's 2% target. This drop was due to lower air fares and transport costs, offset by rising food prices, particularly chocolate and other larder items. Economists expect the Bank of England to keep its main interest rate at 4.25% despite forecasts of a further decline.
