💨 Abstract

In a recent crackdown, mayors of Adiyaman, Adana, and Antalya in southern Turkey were arrested on allegations involving organized crime, bribery, and bid-rigging. These arrests follow previous detentions of opposition figures, including Istanbul's Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, who was jailed in March. The opposition CHP party faces waves of arrests, many view as politically motivated, after its gains in local elections.
