💨 Abstract
Cambodia's Prime Minister Hun Manet announced military conscription starting in 2026, amidst ongoing border tensions with Thailand. The move aims to bolster military capabilities and fill shortages. The conscription law, passed in 2006 but never enforced, will apply to both sexes aged 18 to 30, with voluntary service for women. Hun Manet also called for increased military funding and the reopening of border crossings closed by Thailand.
