💨 Abstract
Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and allies have formed a parallel government in Darfur, appointing Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo as head. This move follows the escalation of tensions between the military and RSF in April 2023 and is likely to deepen the crisis. The RSF, formerly the Janjaweed militias, has been accused of war crimes, including genocide.
