đź’¨ Abstract
After days of fighting, Syrian government forces withdrew from the province of Sweida, where clashes with Druze militias occurred. A ceasefire, mediated by international entities, appointed Druze factions to ensure security. Previous agreements had failed. The violence was sparked by sectarian attacks between local tribes and Druze armed groups, with Israeli intervention citing protection of the Druze. The conflict resulted in hundreds of casualties, encluding civilians killed in sectarian violence, according to monitors.
