💨 Abstract
Russia will host Syria's new Foreign Minister, Asaad al-Shibani, for talks in Moscow. This is the first official visit since former President Bashar Assad was ousted. Assad, who was supported by Russia in the past, is now in refuge in Russia. The new Syrian leadership is maintaining pragmatic relations with Moscow, with some Russian forces and oil shipments remaining in Syria. Russia has also publicly supported Syria against Israeli interventions.
