💨 Abstract
A U.S. government employee is barred from leaving China amid a criminal investigation. It is one of the latest cases where Beijing has stopped U.S. citizens from departing. The State Department is engaged with Chinese officials to quickly resolve the situation. China has been criticized for using exit bans arbitrarily. This comes after a Wells Fargo banker was also blocked from leaving China, prompting the bank to suspend all travel to the country. As well as some other institutions are now closely tracking incidents as well.
