💨 Abstract
Western Balkans is experiencing severe drought due to a prolonged heatwave. Temperatures exceeded 40°C in Albania, causing rivers to dry up and forcing albanian authorities to support agriculture with irrigation. Both Albania and Serbia are facing agricultural losses and power shortages due to reduced hydropower generation. Kosovo's largest swimming pool had to close due to water shortages. Authorities warn of lingering drought until September and advise people to stay indoors during the hottest part of the day.
