💨 Abstract

Two Haitian police officers from a specialized unit were killed by gang members in Kenscoff, a community near Port-au-Prince. The officers died while escaping from an armored vehicle stuck in a ditch dug by gangs. This attack is part of a broader surge in gang violence, which has displaced 1.3 million people and left 2 million facing severe food insecurity. The U.N.-backed mission to curb the violence is understaffed and underfunded, an outgoing U.N.
