💨 Abstract
Charges will not be filed against five Chicago police officers who fired nearly 100 shots, killing 26-year-old Black man Dexter Reed during a 2024 traffic stop. Prosecutors determined that the officers did not act criminally. Reed, who had a gun, fired first. Reed's family and community activists dispute this decision, asserting the officers used excessive force and failed to identify themselves properly.
