💨 Abstract

Indonesia's parliament approved the first stage of a mass clemency plan, leading to the release of 1,116 convicts. This includes opposition figures imprisoned under former President Joko Widodo, such as Hasto Kristiyanto and former Trade Minister Tom. Furthermore, this includes Papua activists with the authorities considering their movement non-violent. The move is part of a broader initiative to pardon 44,000 inmates nationwide.
