💨 Abstract
Former Malian Prime Minister Choguel Kokalla Maiga was arrested on corruption charges. His lawyer, Cheick Oumar Konaré, stated that Maiga was detained by the National Economic and Financial Unit, which investigates corruption. Maiga was dismissed in November 2024 after criticizing the military regime for delaying elections. Another former prime minister, Moussa Mara, was also jailed for supporting critics of the junta.
