đź’¨ Abstract
The California Black Freedom Fund, initially a five-year initiative focused on racial justice, aims to expand to a $200 million endowment. Originally part of the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, it rebranded and went national on July 1, 2025. Despite challenges from the Trump administration, which seeks to eliminate race-based grantmaking, the fund has raised over $97 million and plans to provide $10 million in annual grants without depleting its assets.
