💨 Abstract
Four Moroccan truck drivers kidnapped in January 2025 by Islamic State in the Sahel Province were released in Mali. The drivers were transporting electrical equipment from Morocco to Niger when they were abducted. Their release was coordinated by Mali's National State Security Agency and Morocco's foreign intelligence service. This event comes amidst a decade-long insurgency in Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger, exacerbated by recent coups and shifting foreign influence.
