💨 Abstract

In Myanmar, military courts sentenced thirteen individuals, including five Chinese nationals, to life imprisonment for human trafficking offenses. These involved online sex video distribution, forced marriages, and bride trafficking. The convictions highlight the persistent issue of trafficking, exacerbated by the ongoing conflict and displaced populations. Recent reports indicate a resurgence in trafficking cases as people move to China for work. Authorities handled 53 trafficking cases in 2024, with 34 involving China.
