💨 Abstract
Guatemalan President Bernardo Arévalo declared a 15-day state of emergency in two municipalities in western Guatemala following attacks by armed criminal gangs. The attacks, which resulted in at least five deaths, targeted a military post and a police station, aiming to force security forces out of the region. The state of emergency restricts public gatherings, protests, and the right to carry weapons.
