💨 Abstract

Some rare variants of US pennies can be worth significantly more than one cent in auctions. The U.S. Treasury is ending the production of pennies due to cost discrepancies. Some pennies, particularly the 1943 copper cents and some 1909-S VDB pennies, can fetch high prices. Roxana Uskali, from Heritage Auctions, notes that the value depends on the date, mint mark, and condition.
