💨 Abstract

A man in his 60s was hospitalized for three weeks after replacing table salt with sodium bromide based on advice from ChatGPT. He exhibited paranoia and hallucinations, leading to involuntary psychiatric admission. The man had been substituting salt for three months, believing it would be healthier. Doctors noted that ChatGPT recommended bromides without warning about potential toxicity. Bromide poisoning, once common, is rare but has resurfaced due to accessible online information.
