💨 Abstract
An explosion at the U.S. Steel plant near Pittsburgh, Clairton Coke Works, has injured dozens and trapped some under debris. Emergency workers are on-site attempting rescues. Five people were transported to hospitals, but no fatalities have been confirmed. The plant, the largest coke-making facility in North America and a significant employer, has faced pollution issues in recent years, including a $8.5 million settlement in 2019 for violations.
