💨 Abstract
The DC Council voted to suspend until October the implementation of Initiative 82, which aimed to gradually increase the minimum wage for tipped workers in restaurants and hospitality to $12 per hour. The original plan, supported by 74% of voters in 2022, was to raise it from approximately $5 to $10 per hour. The suspension, voted 8-4, allows the council to evaluate the initiative's impact on workers and businesses.
