💨 Abstract
A policial commander in Washington DC is under investigation for allegedly altering crime statistics in his district. Michael Pulliam, ex-commander of the Third District, was placed on administrative leave with pay in mid-May, shortly after filing a workplace discrimination complaint. The police union accuses the department of deliberately falsifying crime data to show a significant decrease in violent crimes. The union claims that supervisors manipulate data to present favorable statistics, reclassifying severe crimes as lesser offenses.
