💨 Abstract
In Maryland, one person has died from heat this summer, with hundreds seeking emergency care for heat-related illnesses. Nine of the 11 deceased were 65 or older. A 2-year-old girl died in May after being left in a hot car. Between June 29 and July 5, 177 people visited emergency rooms due to heat-related issues. Over 470 sought treatment during a recent heatwave.
