💨 Abstract

A volcano in Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula erupted for the first time in centuries, days after an 8.8 magnitude earthquake. The Krasheninnikov volcano sent ash 6 kilometers into the sky, with no populated areas affected. The eruption was accompanied by an 8.0 magnitude earthquake and triggered a tsunami warning, later lifted. The eruption's timing and activity are still being studied.
