💨 Abstract
A 92-year-old man in a wheelchair, Donald Burgess, was Tasered by police after threatening to stab staff at his care home in East Sussex. Despite being immobile, officers sprayed him with pepper spray, struck him with a baton, and Tasered him within 83 seconds. Burgess had been threatening staff for over 30 minutes and held a knife. The officers, Pc Stephen Smith and Pc Rachel Comotto, deny assault charges.
