💨 Abstract
Former footballer Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, 34, was sentenced to four years in prison after attempting to smuggle £600,000 worth of cannabis from Thailand. He pleaded guilty to importing cannabis and was arrested at Stansted Airport. Emmanuel-Thomas, previously with clubs like Arsenal and QPR, recruited his girlfriend and her friend to transport the drugs, who believed they were carrying gold. The judge stated that his actions have ended his football career and labeled him a criminal.
