💨 Abstract

An 18-year-old, Keiran Matthew, avoided prison for attacking a teacher, Carol Shaw, at St. Paul’s Academy in Dundee. Matthew, who has ADHD and a low IQ, became agitated during a PE class and attacked Shaw, throwing her head-first onto a concrete floor and leaving her unconscious and severely injured. Despite the seriousness of the assault, Matthew was spared prison due to Scottish rules for first offenders.
