💨 Abstract
The NHS urgently needs one million regular blood donors to meet demand, following persistent low stocks and an 'amber alert' last year. Currently, only 800,000 people donate annually, leading to a significant shortfall. The NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is calling for more donors, especially those with O negative blood and black donors, to prevent a 'red alert' that could threaten public safety.
