💨 Abstract
In England and Wales, MPs have voted to decriminalize abortion outside current legal limits, passing an amendment that stops women from being prosecuted for ending their own pregnancies. Current law allows abortion only up to 24 weeks with two doctors' approval. The vote passed 379 to 137. The amendment retains punishments for others who end a pregnancy illegally and the need for medical approval.
