💨 Abstract
A Wisconsin town chairman, Richard Van Buren, is accused of hanging and strangling a stray golden retriever that was barking and bit him. The dog, dropped off with Van Buren for animal control, was reportedly dangled by a leash, causing severe distress. Van Buren admitted to tightening the leash, describing it as a choke collar. He faces up to three-and-a-half years in prison if convicted. Van Buren denies the allegations, calling them "lies."
