💨 Abstract
In February 2023, inmate Andrew Light stabbed Roy Whiting, the convicted killer of Sarah Payne, multiple times in his cell at HMP Wakefield. Light reportedly shouted, “That was for Sarah Payne” as he was being led away by the authorities. The inmates' fatal attack only stopped when guards intervened. The judge stayed that Whiting's injury was not life-threatening, despite significant blood loss. The trial for attempting murder and wounding with intent is ongoing.
