💨 Abstract
A new statue of Mary Woolaston, a 17th-century black woman from King's Cross, has been unveiled in London's Cowthorpe Community Gardens. Created by Marcia Bennett-Male, the statue represents working-class women of color whose histories have been overlooked. The statue is part of an initiative to diversify public spaces, funded by the Mayor of London. It aims to honor unsung heroes and provide a space for Londoners to make wishes and reflect.
