💨 Abstract
Scammers are targeting Booking.com users by taking over hotel accounts and sending fake payment requests. From June 2023 to September 2024, 532 reports were made, resulting in £370,000 lost. Scams involve unexpectedly urgent in-app messaging, emails, or WhatsApp messages, which seem legitimate. Before providing any details, double-check the hotel's payment policies on Booking.com.
