💨 Abstract

On a hot summer day in Sipplingen, Germany, a sudden storm brought hailstones up to 5cm long, covering the ground and flooding basements. This phenomenon, though rare, is explained by rapid temperature drops at high altitudes creating ice in clouds that fall as hail. Despite initial chaos, the phenomenon is a natural occurrence, especially in summer, where warm air and moisture lead to the formation of storm clouds. The ice chunks then melt partially during their descent.
