💨 Abstract
On a hot summer day in Sipplingen, Germany, a severe hailstorm lasted for half an hour, dropping hailstones as long as 5 cm and piling them up to half a meter. Tourists were frightened and about 50 firefighters were called to clear up and address 14 flooded basements. This phenomenon, though surprising, is natural, as hail can form in cumulonimbus clouds during heatwaves.
