Edward Hickey, 79, was fatally struck by a car while walking with his nephew in Waterloo, Merseyside. The driver, Thomas Gibson, 18, was inhaling nitrous oxide and lost control of his vehicle, leading to the collision. Gibson pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and was sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison, also receiving a seven-year driving ban.
