đ¨ Abstract
A surge in ladybird numbers has been caused by the hot summer, which has increased their food supply (aphids). This abundance led to a disruption at Lord's Cricket Ground, where a match had to be paused due to the swarming insects. Experts view this as a positive sign, as ladybirds help control aphid populations, contributing to a healthy ecology. The last significant increase in ladybird numbers was in 1976.
