💨 Abstract
A German official, Roland Eichhorn, discovered a significant amount of the rare mineral humboldtine, previously known from only a few locations, while digitizing the Bavarian State Office for the Environment's mineral collection. Humboldtine, a lemon-yellow, iron-rich mineral, was found in an old box in the agency's basement, unlabeled and undocumented. Its formation in a brown coal mine is mysterious, as the conditions are typically not conducive to its creation.
