💨 Abstract
Tooth decay causes hundreds of thousands of children to miss school days, with the poorest children affected the most. A Scottish study of over 260,000 children aged 4 to 7 found that those with tooth decay missed an average of five more half-days of school per year than those with healthy teeth. The study highlighted that children from poorer backgrounds missed nearly twice as many school days due to dental issues.
