💨 Abstract
A massive new stick insect species, Acrophylla alta, has been discovered in Queensland, Australia. Measuring around 16 inches and weighing about 44 grams, the females are significantly heavier than Australia's next-heaviest insect, the giant wood moth. The species was difficult to identify due to the distinct differences between males and females, requiring observations of mating behavior and egg characteristics.
