💨 Abstract

A woman, overwhelmed by the mental load of household tasks, asks her husband for a separation despite his shock. She explains her experiences of feeling alone in managing the endless to-do lists and silent labor of running a family and home. This mental load disproportionately falls on women, fueled by societal expectations and ingrained gender roles. Through couples therapy, she discovers the need for better communication and acknowledges the societal influences on both genders' roles in this dynamic.
