💨 Abstract
Virgin is challenging Eurostar's long-standing monopoly over the Channel Tunnel with plans to launch high-speed rail services by 2030. The company has secured a deal for 12 new trains from Alstom and aims to start routes to Paris, Brussels, and Amsterdam within five years. Virgin also hopes to secure the use of Eurostar’s maintenance depot in Temple Mills and align services with its rewards program, Virgin Red, to attract passengers.
