💨 Abstract

Poundland, a discount retailer, is closing 30 stores as part of a major restructure by its new owners, Gordon Brothers. Over 20 stores have already closed, with more scheduled to shut in December and January. The retailer's profitability has declined in recent years due to a challenging UK retail environment. This trend is not unique to Poundland, as several other retail chains and banks have also been closing stores.
