đź’¨ Abstract
The author decided to stop hosting family Christmases after falling ill in 2019 and ending up in the hospital with double pneumonia. The experience made her realize the importance of prioritizing her own needs. She and her husband decided to no longer host or travel for Christmas, opting instead for a low-key celebration at home with just their children. They face-time relatives, enjoy personal traditions, and avoid the stress and cost of hosting.
