💨 Abstract
A major power outage in Berlin has left tens of thousands of households and businesses without electricity due to a fire on a cable bridge in Lichterfelde. The outage, which began on Saturday, affects parts of Steglitz and Zehlendorf. Stromnetz Berlin, the city’s grid operator, expects power to be fully restored by Thursday afternoon, January 8, 2026. The cold weather is complicating repair efforts. Police are investigating suspected arson.
